Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya an eminent Indian engineer, statesman, and scholar who lived from 1861 to 1962. He is one of the most celebrated engineers and visionaries in India’s history and is widely regarded as a pioneer of modern engineering and nation-building in the country.

Early Life: Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya was born on 15 September 1861, in a village called Muddenahalli in present-day Karnataka, India.

Education: He pursued his education in engineering at the College of Engineering, Pune , where he graduated with a degree in civil engineering in 1884.

Career: Visvesvaraya had an illustrious career and worked on various significant projects across India. He served as the Chief Engineer of the State of Mysore (now Karnataka) and was instrumental in the construction of the Krishna Raj Sagar Dam, which was considered an engineering marvel of its time.

Visionary Engineer: Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya engineering acumen and innovative ideas earned him widespread recognition. He introduced modern, scientific methods to tackle engineering challenges and improve infrastructure in India.

Nation Builder: As the Dewan (Prime Minister) of Mysore from 1912 to 1918, he played a vital role in the overall development of the princely state.
